Job Description

Supervise and coordinate our volunteer programs. Support our marketing endeavors, including maintaining website, writing newsletters, and organizing logistics of our annual walk. Implement programming to engage siblings and caregivers of patients. Report to the Director of the PBMT Family Support Program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the FSP Director, administer all volunteer related programs (Best Buddies, Rainbow Volunteers, Community Meals) and manage caregiver-focused vendors on the unit (Massage Therapy, Salon Day) including, but not limited to, recruitment, training, supervision, support, and counseling of volunteers.

Under the supervision of the FSP Director, plan and implement publicity and marketing materials to promote programs and events including, but not limited to, preparing and distributing our monthly newsletter and managing the program website.

Interact with patients and families to provide support with program logistics, including management of our reward programs. Help support the other members of the FSP team with efforts to welcome and support PBMT families. Maintain infection control awareness, clean up caregiver spaces on a weekly basis and maintain our inventory of caregiver-focused supplies on the unit. Assist with outpatient and inpatient events as needed.

Under the supervision of the FSP Director, assist in the administration of the annual Rainbow of Heroes Walk, including, but not limited to, management of Walk website and online donations, coordinate the preparation, publication, and distribution of Rainbow of Heroes Walk materials. Manage our raffle and auction logistics leading up to day of the event. Assist with establishing and maintaining contact with other departments, local businesses, and area industries to promote the event. Help with administration and management our Walk vendors for the event.

Serve as program liaison with Duke Undergraduate courses and work with the Faculty lead to place student volunteers with PBMT FSP.

Work well with other Duke departments concerning policies and procedures and general program administration; develop a base of knowledge and serve as a resource to staff.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Education/Training Job Requirements
Work requires communications, assessment, supervisory and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor Degree.

Minimum Experience Job Requirements
Must be able to be flexible to travel to office and hospital weekly. Willing to work a minimum of one evening a month to help support our outpatient activity. Work requires the ability to plan and administer programs and coordinate volunteers within a specific functional area, generally acquired through 3 years of related experience.

Job Skill Requirements

Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Very well organized with the ability to set internal goals and meet deadlines. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and website management. Ability to learn, develop and adapt to new ideas and programs. Prior experience in volunteer services, newsletter publications and social media is preferred.
