The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Laboratory Manager of robotics and biomedical research to work in the lab of Dr. Robin Felder. This position will require previous demonstrated expertise in the preparation and submission of grant and external funding proposals and the writing of articles for publications in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and trade magazines. Representing the Felder laboratory and the University of Virginia at scientific meetings, trade-shows, business meetings, and other functions is an expectation of this position. General public relations responsibilities may include assisting with educational initiatives and conducting laboratory tours. Incumbent will also be responsible for supervising lab personnel and performance management, as well as lab management. Project management, business development, and web site creation experience will be highly valued.
Employee will train in and become competent with design alternatives or process improvement alternatives using off-the-shelf or custom discrete event models will also be specific responsibilities of this position. Use of industry standard development tools (Microsoft Visual Studio, Python and coding languages) for software design and implementation will be required.
Qualified applicants must have at least a master's degree with 4 years' experience in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a closely related field. Applicant must be willing to acquire skills specific to clinical and biochemistry automation.
Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge in engineering for the development of requirements analyses for applications in the domains listed above. We are offering a very competitive compensation package to work in this dynamic, fun and fast paced research environment.
