The Child Health Research Center (CHRC) of the University of Virginia School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is seeking applicants for an academic pediatric researcher committed to a clinician-scientist career track. The CHRH is composed of senior and junior faculty with diverse interests spanning laboratory, translational and clinical investigation.
Candidates must have an MD, be board-certified or board-eligible in a pediatric subspecialty, and have an active, externally funded research program in laboratory, translational and/or clinical investigation. The candidate will be expected to provide outstanding subspecialty care for a portion of the time, while conducting a competitive research program. The successful candidate will have a research program that finds synergy with other CHRC investigators and with investigators from other departments at the University of Virginia. A research program that interacts with basic scientists is preferred. The position is open rank, tenure-eligible or ineligible tracks, with the initial appointment, rank and compensation subject to the School of Medicine Promotion and Tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications.
The University of Virginia Children's Hospital provides comprehensive services to the children of central and southwest Virginia, and has a new, state-of-the-art building for pediatric outpatient clinics. The UVA Medical Center is adjacent to the University grounds. The University of Virginia is located in Charlottesville, a cultured, cosmopolitan community that yet retains its small-town, historic charm. There is a burgeoning restaurant and live music scene, along with many arts offerings through the university and the community. Washington, D.C. and Richmond are within easy driving distance.
