Nature of Work

Assistant Professor faculty member with responsibilities in providing direct clinical care to adolescent patients; teaching Adolescent Medicine fellows, residents and medical students in the Adolescent Medicine Clinic (50% time); and sharing in Adolescent on call with the other Section members. In addition, the faculty member will be the Medical Director of the Young Mother's Clinic (10% time) with responsibilities in providing direct clinical care to adolescent mothers and their infants, and working with Nurse Practitioners, Family Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and other Young Mother's Clinic staff as the medical lead (40% time).

Examples of Work Performed

Provide direct clinical care to adolescent mothers and their infants, and working with Nurse Practitioners, Family Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and other Young Mother's Clinic staff as the medical lead; teaching Adolescent Medicine fellows, residents and medical students in the Adolescent Medicine Clinic; developing grant funding for research career support; and sharing in Adolescent on call with the other Section members.

The Department of Pediatrics Section of Adolescent Medicine has an opening for a full time Assistant Professor. Position will be the Medical Director supporting the Young Mothers Clinic at Children's Hospital Colorado with responsibilities providing direct clinical care to adolescent mothers and their infants, and working with Nurse Practitioners, Family Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and other Young Mother's Clinic staff as the medical lead.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • MD
  • Board Certified or Eligible in Adolescent Medicine

Condition of Employment:
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
  • Must be willing and able to pass a sex offenders background check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of the complexity of caring for adolescent patients
  • Knowledge and ability to comply with confidentiality, compliance and follow-up
  • Ability to manage multiple patients at a time
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and families
  • Ability to care for a diverse, medically underserved population of adolescents
  • Ability to be flexible - both in work duties and hours
  • Experience working with diverse and difficult populations
  • Ability to relate to the age group

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Clinical experience with adolescent mothers and their infants
  • Clinical experience in a pediatric outpatient environment
  • Clinical experience in an academic setting

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is $132,000 - $160,000 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
