Field Unit Social Worker, Sociology and Social Work - 603185

Northern Arizona University’s Sociology and Social Work office is seeking two Field Unit Social Workers. The Child Welfare Training Project is a collaborative effort between the Northern Arizona University Social Work Program and the Arizona Department of Child Safety. Duties include but not limited to providing ongoing case management to DCS clients served by the NAU Child Welfare Training unit. Teaches, mentors, and supervises students in the BSW scholarship program. Manages approximately 12 ongoing DCS cases and collaborates with/mentors students on the cases. Initiates and schedules home visits to children, parents, and fosters parents, communicates with attorneys’ law enforcement agencies, community partners and other team members. Assists in the development and presentation of educational materials for students and other staff. Attends Child Welfare staff meetings and interagency meetings with DCS. Represents the NAU Child Welfare Training Project/Program in the community and at community events. These positions are grant supported and subject to the availability of funding. Not subject to lay off or recall status.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicant should have a Master’s or Bachelor’s in Social Work, and two years’ experience working in child protection, or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience.
