Responsibilities include:
• Provide overall management of the emergency clinic in support of the clinic mission.
• Provide daily management of students, faculty, staff and patients in Emergency Clinic.
• Provide leadership role in the establishment and implementation of clinic policy and structure related to the emergency and urgent care services. 
• Provide guidance, education, orientation, and mentorship for students on emergency block rotation through procedural oversight as well as daily huddles and small group learning. 
• Assess students’ clinical progress, patient management skills, strengths, deficiencies and ultimately competency in provision of emergency care.
• Oversee students’ clinical progress towards promotion and graduation.
• Course direct the emergency course DP368, content, competency examination and grading.
• Interpret findings from the complete patient work-up and present them in a standardized format.
• Determine differential, provisional, and definitive diagnoses.
• Discuss treatment plans with patients & caregivers, including presentation of findings, alternatives, risks and benefits, and obtain informed consent.
• Recognize and respond to intraoral emergencies.
• Manage remediation of students within team who are not meeting educational milestones and standards.
• Work with Group Practice Leader on remediation within a particular discipline for student’s deficiencies.
• Monitor and enforce student attendance.
• Develop protocols and procedure to effectively manage patient flow, triage and deliver urgent care in a timely manner.
• Assist with the selection and management and mentorship of dedicated emergency faculty teaching teams.
• Provide feedback to Department Chairs and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs regarding issues of compliance, performance and overall teaching effectiveness both informally and formally.
• Manage patient flow in emergency for 2nd and 3rd years to ensure timeliness of patient care and distribution of clinical needs.
• Supervise clinical care of patients.
• Manage controlled substance prescriptions.
• Facilitate and resolve patient conflicts with students and/or treatment rendered; refer to Patient Liaison as appropriate.
• Work with GPL to complete adjustment forms in axiUm. 
• Serve on various committees to include Clinic, Clinic Advisory, and CQA.
• Coordinate faculty and student coverage for break and exam weeks.
• Assist in management of financial issues with patients.
• Develop and utilize reports in the management of emergency clinic operations.
• Manage bloodborne exposures and unusual occurrences.
• Work with CQA officer to perform audits including missing charges, treatment progress, and recalls.
• Monitor QA activities including but not limited to infection control protocols and surveys
• Prepare documentation for accreditation pertaining to emergency clinic; interface with accreditation teams.
• Participate in various school events to include student­/administrator dinners, White Coat Ceremony, Graduation events, and Asilomar retreat. 
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Chairperson of Diagnostic Sciences and the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs.
