University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music invites applications for an opening for a full time Assistant Professor of Practice in Music Industry to teach classes related to the contemporary music concert industry. This position begins in August 2017.

Duties to include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level courses in the field of live music concert and venue management, touring, and music festivals. Topics include but are not limited to talent buying, management, budgeting, ticketing, marketing, production, tour planning and routing, venue selection and management and festival design and management.

Additional duties include participation in the activities of the Music Industry Program through recruiting and mentoring students; contributing to new course and program development; fostering relationships with music industry professionals and cultivating internship and career placements within the industry.  Finally, it is expected that all full-time faculty participate in the general governance of the Thornton School of Music and the University through periodic service on committees.

Minimum Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Music, Music Industry, Business or equivalent related professional experience in the music/media business.

Minimum Experience:  Ten years’ experience in concert and venue management or music touring.  Teaching and/or presentation experience at the University level is a plus.

Preferred Experience:  Ten or more years of experience in the field, preferably at the executive or management level, in live music touring, major market venue management, and music festivals design and management.  Two or more years’ experience in classroom teaching experience at the university level.
