Production Coordinator – Chemeketa Press

Chemeketa Community College welcomes applications for a full-time Production Coordinator–Chemeketa Press

Position Summary

Chemeketa Press is a start-up, in-house textbook publishing company at Chemeketa that competes with commercial textbook publishers by publishing effective, printed textbooks that never cost more than $40 and are usually under $20. For the last two years, this project has supported Chemeketa faculty as they develop new textbooks, from planning to drafting to editing manuscripts and from book design to production to publication. In the coming years, it will also prepare books for distribution beyond the college and explore partnerships with other schools.

This position oversees the development process from start to finish and supports the general operations of the Press. If you're the ideal candidate, it's because you have practical experience with project management systems and principles -- and you enjoy that sort of thing. You know how to plan, draft, and edit a book manuscript. You understand the basics of digital and print publication. You also have the skills to teach yourself new skills quickly. Most importantly, you have the imagination, confidence, and patience to build something entirely new and then set it aside a month later when a better idea comes along.

Why Chemeketa?

You would be challenged to find a college that matters more to its community than Chemeketa means to the residents of Oregon’s Mid-Willamette Valley. If you can affirm our vision to transform lives and communities through exceptional learning experiences, then Chemeketa will be a rewarding workplace to fulfill your potential and contribute your expertise.
