General Summary of Position:
The Department of Physics and Applied Physics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor to begin September 2017. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program complementary to existing research areas in Radiological Sciences. Educational responsibilities will include developing and teaching graduate and advanced undergraduate courses along with supervising MS and PhD students in Health Physics. The academic program consists of Health Physics (accredited by ABET) and Medical Physics (accredited by CAMPEP). Current and significant research directions include internal dosimetry, radiobiology, radiochemistry, radiation detector development, and nanoparticle transport and dosimetry.

UMass Lowell offers a generous startup package to support the new faculty, and an extensive array of research opportunities, including collaboration with our partner institutions in Boston. The UML Radiation Laboratory maintains a 1 MW research reactor, a 5.5 MeV Van de Graaff proton and light ion accelerator with a dedicated proton microprobe beamline, and numerous other laboratories for radiochemistry, detector development, nanoparticle/aerosol/hydrosol applications, and irradiation facilities for gamma, x-ray, and neutron radiography studies both in-vivo and in-vitro.

Applications from minority and women candidates are especially encouraged.
