Summary of Job Duties

The person in this position provides support for departmental research as one of 3-4 research support staff to 15-20 faculty and 25-50 graduate students. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty, staff and graduate students to develop research designs, identify problem solutions, manage projects, write reports and deliver oral presentations of results. The position is responsible for managing research projects from the acquisition and preparation of data to the design and execution of statistical analyses as well as design and development of decision support tools.

Bachelor's degree in agricultural economics, economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, social sciences, or a related field with three years related experience or a Master's degree. Advanced coursework in statistics, mathematics, and/or computer science.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with five years related experience or Master's degree with two years related experience. Knowledge and experience with computer operating systems. Preferred skills include competency with SAS, R, SPSS, and/or Stata; expertise in primary data collection methodologies including surveys, focus groups, choice experiments; experience analyzing survey data, including knowledge of considerations for sampling, weighting and bootstrap error estimation; ability to develop code for web applications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and one or more statistical analysis software packages, (ie. SAS, R, SPSS, Stata). Good oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team.
