Summary of Job Duties

The University of Arkansas invites applicants for a nine-month Visiting Assistant Professor position, renewable for up to three years, in the Department of Philosophy. Duties will include teaching six courses per year, undergraduate and graduate; engaging in some thesis supervision and usual non-teaching duties, for example, committee work; and pursuing an active research program.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.



Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in philosophy conferred by the start of employment


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching philosophy
  • Areas of specialization and competence are open, but we are particularly interested in Philosophy of Race, Philosophy of Gender, and Applied Ethics
