Summary of Job Duties

The individual will have responsibilities for preparing fertilizer treatments, collecting and processing soil samples, collecting crop-growth and yield data, and establishing, maintaining, and harvesting field experiments located across Arkansas for the University of Arkansas Soil Testing and Fertilization Research Program. Additional duties may include analysis of fertilizer, soil and plant samples and conducting laboratory incubation and greenhouse trials evaluation fertilizer release and nutrient transformations. The unique aspects of this position include: 1) agronomic management of crops including rice, soybean, corn, and wheat; 2) learning crop development and diagnostic techniques; 3) operating specialized lab instrumentation and field equipment; 4) over-night travel from Fayetteville to research sites at Agricultural Experiment Stations and grower fields; and 5) coordination of off-campus research activities. The individual will assist in preparing research plans, procuring research supplies, project record keeping, data management, and statistical analysis, and research reports.

B.S. in Soil Science or related field with three years of experience in managing field and lab research or a M.S degree in Soil Science or related field.
