Medgar Evers College is a senior college of the City University of New York located in central Brooklyn. In recent years, the college has undergone tremendous growth in student enrollment and expansion in physical facilities. The college enrolls about seven thousand students including close to three thousand students in the School of Science, Health and Technology. The School offers B.S degree programs in Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics and Nursing. AS programs in science and AAS and PN programs in Nursing.

The Department of Nursing enrolls approximately 300 students in its PN certificate program, AAS and BS degree programs. The department is located in a new state-of-the-art $247 million School of Science building with well-equipped smart classrooms, teaching labs and research modules. The department has four technologically advanced teaching labs, a hospital mock-up room, simulation equipment and a specialized computer lab.

The Department of Nursing seeks applications for full-time tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The new faculty will teach undergraduate courses in its evening/weekend associate degree and day practical nurse programs, and also, its evening RN-BS completion program.

Faculty members are required to oversee and supervise students in clinical courses, teach nursing content and psychomotor skills, provide student advisement, participate in department and college-wide committees, engage in research & scholarly activities, participate in course and curriculum development and engage in community service.

Faculty members are also required to serve on departmental and college-wide committees, be involved in curriculum development and academic advisement; engage in research and scholarly activities.


The qualified candidate must hold a Master's Degree in Nursing; an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field, granted by an accredited institution; clinical expertise in at least one of the following: community health nursing, adult/family nurse practitioner ;psychiatric mental health nursing, and medical-surgical nursing; a current license as a registered nurse in New York State (or eligible for NYS licence as an RN at the time of appointment); and CPR certification. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
