Job Description Summary:

George Washington Health Sciences is a vibrant unit within the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Health Sciences Division of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences is recruiting an administrative professional to support the Dean's office and coordinate all organizational and functional activities in support of the daily work performed by the Sr. Associate Dean.

Responsibilities include:

Coordinates all organizational and functional activities in support of the daily work performed directly by the Sr. Associate Dean:

Maintains the Sr. Associate Dean's appointment calendar and sets up meetings. Assists with meeting agendas and teleconference arrangements.

Coordinates the Sr. Associate Dean's domestic and international travel arrangements, submits authorizations, prepares memorandums and expense justifications; processes and submits travel reimbursements and prepare trip agendas.

Organizes and performs logistics for a variety of events and meetings (room scheduling, audiovisual set-up, catering arrangements, communications, etc.).

Provides the Sr. Associate Dean with editing support to the development of correspondence, power-point presentations and other written communications.

Serves as the direct liaison between the office of the Sr. Associate Dean and department chairs and faculty, faculty affairs, other medical school and university administration offices and with outside organizations and agencies.

Coordinates the activities related to Faculty Affairs including term faculty hires, faculty annual reviews, new faculty recruitments, new appointments and promotions (including tenure packages), reviews and updates Health Sciences policies and bylaws. Act as liaison between the Health Science Division and the School of Medicine of Medicine Faculty Affairs office and participate in monthly and ad-hoc meetings and training related to Faculty Affairs.

Provide fiscal support and procurement of goods and services for the Health Sciences Dean's office such as paying invoices and honorarium, purchasing books and supplies, routing contracts and other agreements, etc.

Enhances professional knowledge and skills by attending seminars/workshops and reviewing published literature. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of training and experience, is necessary plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field and three years of responsibility, professional related experience is preferred. Proficiency with Excel and Word, familiarity with I-buy travel and expense applications and ability to learn new computer applications quickly are necessary. Strong organizational skills, ability to work with minimal direction, show initiative, and be a good problem solver are required. Excellent communications and writing skills are essential. Superior customer service, discretion and tact are necessary to be successful in this position.
