Job Description: POSITION: COORDINATOR, EMPLOYER RELATIONS LFWODE-CORD06 STATUS: Full Time, grant-funded DEPARTMENT: Workforce Development DIVISION: Academic Affairs CLASSIFICATION: Exempt UNION: Non-Union REPORTS TO: Workforce Skills Manager PLACEMENT: Professional staff, grade 9 MINIMUM PAY RATE: $54,471 annually Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. POSITION SUMMARY Develops strong working relationships with area employers to promote mentoring, paid work experience and employment opportunities for students; supports strategic activities designed to engage and advise My Future grant program students on appropriate career paths in order to prepare them for employment and assist them with job search skills. Ensure ongoing referrals and effective utilization of services to meet program and contract enrollment and outcome goals. Occasional evening and/or weekend work and local travel required. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Actively develop work experience, employment sites and opportunities for My Future students. 2. Establish new, and strengthen current, employer relationships and visibility in the business and education communities through outreach activities such as networking events, mailings, cold calls and personal visits. 3. Identify employers in high growth/high demand occupations in Will County and their job openings. 4. Verify core job competencies, certifications, work ethic requirements, etc. for high growth/high demand occupations in Will County and communicate these findings to My Future staff and students. 5. Facilitate and manage employer visits for the My Future program and provide leadership and coordination for targeted career/job fairs. 6. Partner with academic departments to strengthen communication with and between employers, students, and faculty to identify and promote paid work experience and employment opportunities. 7. Collaborate with faculty and staff to facilitate student learning by assisting students to secure appropriate mentoring, shadowing, and work experiences to enhance overall academic experiences and learn skills essential to successful employment. 8. Prepare My Future students with all aspects of implementing a successful job search including resume writing, interviewing, networking and job-search techniques and strategies. 9. Assist with the promotion of the My Future program and electronic job posting systems to students, faculty and employers as it relates. 10. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Bachelor degree in Education, Business, Human Resources, or related field. 2. Three (3) years of applicable work experience in job development, internship program administration, student employment administration, career counseling or related area. 3. Polished presentation skills with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. 4. Strong personal computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. PREFFERRED QUALIFICATION 1. Master's degree. 2. Familiar with use of social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) to support the promotion, marketing and communication of services and programs. 3. National Career Readiness Certificate. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. Normal office physical demands. 2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Duties are performed indoors in the usual office and/or outdoor environment.
