RESEARCH SPECIALIST B
Duties: Research Specialist B will work in the area of neurotrauma and neuroscience research using large animal models. Experiments include large animal neurosurgery, electrophysiology, animal behavior and imaging. Other tasks will include maintenance of logs and lab reports, biological specimen catalogs, and coordination of experimental scheduling. Opportunities for development/implementation of new behavioral paradigms exist as well. This position will also assist in preparing manuscripts, protocols, provide data for reports and grants, and may oversee and train students and research specialists with less experience.
Position is contingent on continued funding.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science or closely related field and 1 year to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience with large animals is required. Large animal anesthesia and surgical experience is a plus, as is behavioral experience. The candidate should be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills. Attention to detail, organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to work independently are important. Teamwork, professionalism and the willingness to manage and work cooperatively with others are a crucial part of this position.
