About The Unit:

Unit Job Summary: The Human Resources Professional (HRP) has the responsibility for managing, administering and advising the departments (faculty and staff) regarding all aspects of human resources and general operations. The HRP provides the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences strategic direction in building human resources capabilities to respond to operational and business needs. The HRP will work closely with the Executive Administrators to proactively manage the Departments. The HRP develops mechanisms around human capital ensuring that strategic planning, recruitment, succession planning, compensation guidelines, coaching, policy development, training and performance management processes are aligned with the department's strategic goals and objectives.The HRP redesigns organizational roles and functions and streamlines operations to ensure efficiency, consistency, and accountability. Will provide back-up coverage to the HR/Academic Affairs manager for Academic Affairs requests. This position has a dual reporting relationship to both the Executive Administrator and BSD Human Resources.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree in HR or related field OR minimum seven years of directly related human resources experience required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

Unit Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible human resources experience in a large diverse environment required; previous experience managing in a unionized environment preferred; previous supervisory experience required; experience in leading and developing departmental strategies required; previous experience working directly with and coaching managers on various HR topics including employment matters required; proven ability to interact successfully with a diverse group of people required; proven ability to oversee performance management and human resources strategy required; excellent command of and ability to apply human resource principles particularly in strategy, coaching, recruiting/staffing, performance management, employee relations and management practices required.
