This class describes work in food handling and serving or skilled cooking, baking, or meat cutting. This series includes food handling positions and production positions. Food handling positions wash, peel, seed, and cut vegetables, fruits, and garnishes; serve food, weigh and measure portions, or wait tables; arrange tables and decorations; wash dishes and clean and sanitize equipment, work surfaces, and kitchen and dining areas; store food according to safe temperature and handling requirements. Food production positions prepare, season, cook or bake the full range of menu food items; regulate oven and equipment temperatures; measure and mix ingredients; observe and test food quality; plan nutritional menus, determine quantity and order food; cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats; and clean and cut fish and poultry.
Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) is looking for a dependable individual to fill our Cook position. ARTS is the clinical program of the Division of Substance Dependence, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. ARTS' mission is to save lives and improve the quality of life and productivity of individuals and families affected by substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders through the application of scientifically supported prevention, education, and treatment services.
ARTS seeks to fill a part-time, University Staff, non-classified, position with the possibility of full-time Dining Services III (Cook) position. The Cook will be responsible for following a menu to cook and prepare large quantities of food for daily meals for ARTS' three residential substance abuse programs, Haven (adult women), Peer I (adult men), and Synergy (adolescent boys), which are located on the Ft. Logan campus in Denver, CO. Meal preparation occurs within the residential treatment unit.
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
