Oglesby Union Operations

Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting in the upkeep of the cleanliness of the Oglesby Union (Activities, Crenshaw, Davis, Turner, and Moore Auditorium), Student Services Building, and/or Student Life Building with a team of Custodial Worker.
Disposes trash in dumpsters. Collects and coordinates the collecting of recyclable products (plastics, glass, aluminum) from the recycling bins in the Oglesby Union. Replaces and recycles light bulbs per University standards.
Cleans (dusts, washes, sweeps, vacuums, strips tiles, mops, scrubs, waxes, buffs, etc) floors, furniture, furnishings, walls, ceilings, windows, window sills, blinds. Pressure washes building exteriors and floors.
Assists with setups for banquets and special events including but not limited to moving furniture, equipment, and setting up stages. Coordinates collection of trash and recyclable products and cleaning of event space and restrooms.
Monitors and reports all unusual conditions that arise throughout the complex. Responds to requests for spills, cleanups and trash/recyclable collection. Communicates requests and unusual conditions to Oglesby Union staff, custodial staff, setup crews, Coordinator of Physical Plant and other through hand-held radio. Hand-held radio must be worn at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Completion of the ninth grade.
Ability to meet physical requirements of position to include climbing 6 foot ladders and lifting/moving objects up to 20 lbs.
Experience or knowledge of and ability to safely operate machinery, tools, equipment and materials used in area of work.
Experience or knowledge of and the ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related University policies and procedures. Knowledge of basic computer applications and basic computer functions including email.

Helpful

Custodial work experience.

Pay Plan

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.

Schedule

4:00PM to 12:30AM (some overtime may be required)
