Responsibilities

The Intercultural Programs Coordinator at the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) develops and implements a variety of educational, cultural, social, and experiential programs designed to promote increased understanding and awareness among students of diverse cultures. This position coordinates the Beyond Borders Cultural Exchange program and co-teaches two sections of a one-credit course for student participants. This position is responsible for the coordination of outreach and marketing efforts in support of all CGE programs. The Intercultural Programs Coordinator supervises a team of student assistants and interns who work to implement and provide logistical support to the CGE’s programs as well to the Beyond Borders Cultural Exchange programs.
Reporting to the Program Director for Exchanges and Intercultural Programs, the Program Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include the following:
Intercultural Programming:
- Develop and implement new and existing intercultural programs to include a variety of opportunities for domestic and international students. Such programs will meet the requirements for the Global Citizenship Certificate.
- Provide direct oversight and coordination of the CGE’s established programs and signature events including: Intercultural Programs Series, Global Ambassador Program, English Conversation Club, and the annual International Bazaar. Contribute to the planning and implementation of International Coffee Hour and Global Cafe.
-Collaborate with colleagues in the CGE Intercultural Programs & Exchanges unit to develop new and innovative programs and work with other units on campus to serve as central point of contact for campus-wide programming events such as International Education Week.
-Supervise student assistants and intern(s) to develop and provide support to the CGE’s programs and events.
Beyond Borders Cultural Exchanges:
-Provide support to the Beyond Borders Cultural Exchange program for both inbound and outbound students. Oversee hosting arrangements, scheduling, and logistical support during the hosting of visiting Beyond Borders groupsfrom Jamaica and Germany as well as Higher Education interns from the University of the West Indies.
-Develop itineraries for inbound groups to include educational, cultural, and experiential learning opportunities. Coordinate involvement of team leaders and opportunities for Division of Student Affairs staff participation.
-Serve as lead instructor for two 1-credit hour academic classes for Beyond Borders FSU outbound students and provide support to Beyond Borders Team Leaders, who are professional staff members from within the Division of Student Affairs.
- Organize travel arrangements for outbound Beyond Borders groups to include group flights, in-country travel, and insurance as well as ensure completion of required pre-departure documents and procedures.
Marketing/Promotion:
-Develop and manage an outreach schedule for CGE staff and student assistants/interns to present to classes and Registered Student Organizations to market and increase enrollment in the Global Citizenship Certificate and in Global Exchange programs. Market and promote all CGE Intercultural Programs through scheduling CGE staff/student assistants in tabling and outreach events.
-Provide content for CGE websites, calendars, publications, and social media for all CGE programs and work with the CGE Communications Coordinator to implement effective marketing and publicity strategies to increase the visibility of CGE programs.
-Serve on the CGE Editorial Board to contribute to the communications strategies of the CGE.
-Serve on CGE international student orientation committee and other CGE and DSA committees as needed. Attend all major CGE and DSA functions as required, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in international education, intercultural communication, higher education, social sciences with a global/international focus, or closely related field and one year experience.
Experience with event planning.
Experience implementing programs.
Experience working with diverse college student populations.
Ability to plan and implement programs and events for diverse college student populations.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with various populations.
High attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include occasional evening and weekend hours.

Preferred

At least one year of supervisory experience.
At least one year of experience working in an international education office in a university/college setting.
Experience living, studying, or working abroad.
Experience with group travel planning and itineraries.
Knowledge of a second language.

Anticipated Salary Range

Pay Plan

This is an Administrative & Professional (A&P) nonexempt position limited to a 40-hour work week. This requires a flexible schedule to meet programming needs to include occasional evenings and weekends with an adjusted daytime schedule as needed.
