Reporting to the Director of Physical Plant Operations, the Manager of Custodial and Logistical Services is responsible for planning, organizing and managing the University’s custodial and logistical activities. S/he acts to ensure the cleanliness of all buildings, as well as the safe, effective, and efficient operations of custodial services and storeroom operations.  The selected candidate will proactively address the needs and concerns of the University community on issues related to custodial and logistical services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: supervising, prioritizing and assigning work, and evaluating the performance of custodial personnel; reviewing and revising work methods and procedures to assure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with established regulations and policies, as well as developing metrics to assess performance against established benchmarks. S/he will review and analyze reports to determine materials, labor and time requirements for work projects and assist in the development of the Custodial and Logistical Services budget and strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will coordinate and implement training programs and procedures related to custodial and logistical operations.

An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven (7) years of custodial trades’ supervisory experience in an institutional setting including direct management of employees and projects, or a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of supervisory experience is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills with trades, peer managers, and administration; on call availability 24 hours/7days to respond to emergency situations and a valid driver’s license are required as well. Management experience with civil service and/or within a union environment is preferred.
