Position: Planner Estimator
Location: Norfolk, VA, Mayport, FL, and San Diego, CA
Responsible for planning/estimating of Repair items and Ship Alterations including work definition, material identification and cost using drawings, technical documents, NAVSEA Standard Items, and Navy Maintenance Data (NMD) computer program. Responsible for correct formatting of Work Items and Estimates in accordance with published directives.
• Responsible for the development of properly formatted 4E specifications/work items containing all required technical information and production information, by conducting ship-checks and review of ship system drawings, blueprints and technical publications to gather necessary information for input into the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) for subsequent approval by Government representatives.
• Develop Work Items containing all required technical information and production information. Input information into appropriate computer programs.
• Maintain historical references, documents, work orders and organizing them in a master electronic file for future use.
• Read/write Navy specifications, have knowledge of Navy Standard Item requirements.
High School Diploma or GED Certificate, AA degree, Trade level journeyman work experience or equivalent.
Four (4) or more years in the Navy with an applicable maintenance rating (GS, MM, HT, EN, etc.) OR four (4) or more years' experience in a shipyard production environment. Knowledge of ship construction, shipboard systems, equipment and their operations is necessary. Experience should include a working knowledge of all areas of Production, such as craft parameters, material requisitioning, purchasing, scheduling, quality assurance and testing requirements, contract specifications, regulatory body requirements and receiving and warehousing in a dynamic, fast paced office environment. Ship check visits to active Navy ships also required.
A thorough understanding and familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items, GSO, NSTM and Blueprints is required.
Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Analytical abilities necessary to develop and maintain integrated schedules and supporting data. Ability to work in a software intensive environment. Must be a well organized, detail oriented self-starter. Ability to exercise sound judgment, work well independently, prioritize duties and follow task through to completion in a timely manner. Must be able to handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively and respond well to last minute, high priority, and time sensitive projects. Ability to handle pressure of frequent interruptions necessary.
Must currently hold and be able to maintain a US Secret Clearance.
