Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Windows Admin will be responsible to deliver excellent support and service to j2 end-user community and our customers.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to collaboration, unified communications, email, directory/print services as well as production application support. In addition Service Desk process and functional automation including provisioning, management and maintenance of end-user computing equipment, as well as 3rd tier support for the j2 end user community.

The Senior will be the primary interface with other groups on projects, initiatives and programs to support the j2 End-User community.

This role will be responsible for creating standards, methods, and processes to support and optimize the end-user computing experience. Management of IT assets and software licenses in a precise and auditable approach is a key responsibility. This position also includes responsibility for capacity planning as well as for maintenance of support contracts and global office infrastructure including server closets and IDF's.

This position requires close coordination with the Network Operations groups. This position will report to the Manager of Windows Systems Administration.

Job Duties:
  • Improve, enhance and maintain an excellent end-user computing experience throughout j2 Global®
  • Anticipate the needs of the end-user community. Initiate projects and activities in support of these needs.
  • Manage the IT Services and continually develop the team to ensure that end-user computing resources are always available and functional.
  • Manage capacity for all offices to ensure just-in-time provisioning of end-user computing resources.
  • Ensure that all audio/video conferencing equipment is in order and functioning as expected. Ensure that all conference rooms meet user needs. Develop user-facing documentation to ensure ease of use.
  • Manage and enforce the IT license management
  • Drive vendor management and negotiations to improve efficiency and lower costs.
  • Manage fixed asset tracking information in jAMS ITAM for all fixed assets. Maintain compliance with j2 ITAM policies and ensure successful internal audit results.
  • Develop and continually revise end-user computing policies to meet evolving needs of the users.
  • Prepare and manage budgets including expense and capital items. Manage projects within purview.
  • Enforce change management policy and procedures.
  • Serve as primary escalation contact for incidents and service requests for all in scope incidents.
  • Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts of groups within purview.
  • Provide assistance to other departments, task and project teams on items within purview.
  • Provide conflict/escalation management and provide ongoing enforcement of standards.

Job Requirements & Experience:
  • 8+ years managing a group providing services to an end-user community of at least 1000 employees.
  • 6+ years hands-on Windows system administration experience in a distributed environment.
  • 6+ years experience with collaboration, BYOD, e-discovery, email administration and security.
  • 6+ years experience deploying projects including Active Directory, Microsoft server clustering using Windows 2003/2008 Server, Windows DFS, Terminal Services and SQL Server.
  • 5+ Experience with virtualization using Microsoft Hyper-V
  • 5+ years experience with remote/international support strategies.
  • Candidate must be current with emerging technologies and practices for end-user computing.
  • Candidate must be able to anticipate user needs and develop initiatives to seamlessly introduce and deliver applicable technologies into the end-user computing environment.
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: Symantec Enterprise Vault, Zabbix, Oracle Financials, Tivoli Maximo products, Paymentech, Disaster Recovery.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience and Technical Certifications (MCSE) required.
  • Candidate must be self-directed and capable of working on several projects and efforts simultaneously.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills are required. Candidate must be proficient in MS-Office with an excellent knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel. Writing samples will be required.
  • Participate in 24x7 support and on-call. Travel as required.
  • Strong management skills at a senior level and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Candidate must be able to think strategically and act tactically. Must be able to delegate and manage resources to complete tasks. Must have solid judgment and know when to escalate.
  • A Bachelors Degree or equivalent is required.
