Position Summary: The School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has an opening for an MD or MD/PhD Academic Molecular Pathologist for a primary appointment in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with support from the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. This individual will join an active group in Molecular Pathology and function as an attending pathologist in the UNC Hospitals Clinical Molecular Genetics Laboratory, a full service laboratory that performs cancer and heritable disease testing on approximately 17,000 cases annually. Depending on the background of the applicant, this position can be filled as either Fixed Term or Tenure Track at the academic rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Qualification and Experience: Experience with analysis of massively parallel/next generation sequencing data and application of bioinformatics pipelines is highly preferred. Responsibilities include Molecular Pathology case interpretation and reporting, oversight of assay development projects, and collaboration in clinical trials utilizing genomic data in oncology. Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly work and teaching a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, fellows, and staff. The successful applicant will ideally be boarded in Molecular Genetic Pathology with >2 years of experience in molecular laboratory practice.
