Campus Police Officer
Placement Range: $17.31 - $21.69
General Description: An employee in this position provides public safety, law enforcement and security services for the Campus Police Department. The services are provided for all facilities and properties owned and/or operated by Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) The services include patrolling the jurisdiction by foot, motorized vehicle, bicycle and CCTV surveillance. Employee is a current Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) certified peace officer. Employee is able to effectively and efficiently perform the duties of the position with minimal immediate supervision. Requires service-oriented attitude, flexibility, ability to exercise discretion, and a strong moral and ethical character. This position is safety sensitive and subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing.
Minimum Education/Experience: Current CLEET Peace Officer Certification (Applicants must attach a copy of certification) OR COPS Certification (Applicants must attach college transcript) OR CLEET recognized reciprocity for Law Enforcement certification from another State Training Council AND H.S. Diploma/GED Valid driver's license
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to effectively respond to inquiry, give direction to, and control people using oral communication skills under stress and non-stress conditions. Ability to effectively organize accurate, complete and legible written or text communications. Ability to exercise good judgment and make critical decisions under routine, moderate and highly stressful conditions. Ability to remain calm, patient and composed while exercising tact in dealing with uncooperative persons or people presenting challenging interpersonal situations. Ability to recognize and effectively respond to threats to self and others. Ability and willingness to follow appropriate directions of supervisors. Ability and willingness to demonstrate positive character traits and act in accordance with the business as well as safety and security goals and objectives of campus administration. Ability to work flexible work shifts, weekends and if necessary, periods of extended work hours. Ability to perform all duties while wearing the Department's specified uniform and equipment. Ability to successfully complete annual respirator fit test. Must maintain a valid drivers License. Must maintain continuous full CLEET certification. Ability to qualify on CLEET shotgun course. Ability to work willingly and cooperatively with others as part of a team. Ability to become certified in American Red Cross CPR Ability to work at a 100% Tobacco Free jurisdiction, including College vehicles. (E-Cigarettes are not authorized to be used in jurisdiction)
