Posting Summary:
Two post-doctoral (Research Associate) positions are available at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia to be part of the Vocation and the Common Good Project. This project seeks to articulate the challenges posed by the dilemma of vocation in the late modern era by focusing attention to three key issues - the primacy of the individual, the tendency towards abstraction, and the neglect of the social context of vocation. A national panel of scholars and practitioners from across a number of vocational spheres are mapping out the specific challenges to their vocational sphere as they strive to serve the greater good. For more information about this project, please visit our website: http://iasculture.org/research/religion-late-modernity/vocation-common-good-working-group This position, supported by the Lilly Endowment Inc., involves basic and translational research to support the work of senior scholars.
