General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Specialist. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of HR Operations, the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Specialist provides analytical and technical support to the Department of Human Resources and Payroll. This includes but is not limited to maintaining quality of HRIS database information, ensure personnel actions are in compliance with current HR policies, data extraction and report generation, HRIS technical support. This position also provides general HR support as needed.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Specialist will:
  • Maintain and update the HRIS system with new employee information, existing employee changes, terminations, salary, create and maintain positions, update and maintain time and labor tables.
  • Create and run ad hoc reports, process standard system reports as needed for internal and external sources.
  • Perform regular audits to verify authenticity and quality of data is maintained.
  • Develop and maintain standard work processes, user procedures, guidelines and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for improving HR processes through information system changes.
  • Work with payroll to identify and resolve payroll processing issues.
  • Act as backup support to HR Assistants.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel and relational databases such as ADP HR/Payroll/Benefits/Time & Labor and PeopleSoft Financials
  • Ability to work independently, strong attention to detail, strong verbal, written, and communication skills, strong organizational skills, ability to define and document business processes, strong ability to multitask, ability to work nights and weekends as needed to meet deadlines

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and (3) years of HRIS experience or six (6) years of HRIS experience
  • Prefer experience in higher education human resources
