About The Unit: The Section of Hematology/Oncology has a proud and long tradition of excellence in research-based patient care and clinical discovery. Ranked among the finest cancer programs in the country, the Section is comprised of nationally and internationally known faculty with expertise in all major types of malignancies, blood disorders, and experimental therapies. Research related to cancer genetics and inherited predisposition to cancer. The laboratory research focuses on understanding the role of germline genetics in individuals with a familial predisposition to cancer and how these families can help our understanding of sporadic disease.

Unit Job Summary: The Clinical Research Assistant facilitates collection/banking of primary samples for future research. These samples facilitate research in normal and malignant hematopoiesis, including familial predisposition. The position requires the ability to perform tasks independently and with minimal supervision and to work with various people, including physicians, nurses, coordinators, and patients. Collaborations with other laboratories and investigators within the Section and Department are routine.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology, Medical Technology, Biochemistry or related discipline required.

Unit Experience: One year of relevant research experience preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology and records preferred.
