Posting Information: Working under the general direction of the Head Coach, serve as key team member of the management team in organizing, planning, managing, and supervising services for Western Carolina University football program. Function as a leader in the coordination of team travel, fall camp, summer camps, recruiting organization, and coordination of the relationships with outside interests to support programs, activities, and day to day operations. This position is recognized by clients and colleagues as having the authority and accountability when responding to inquiries, resolving complex issues or committing departmental resources. This position is responsible for developing, monitoring, and managing the program/activity budgets, contracts and logistics associated with football travel and events; supervising and evaluating performance of staff and ensuring completion of all project activities. The position reports directly to the Head Football Coach and supports all the football coaches in the operations of the football department and acts as liaison to the Athletics Department. This position must be knowledgeable of, and in compliance with, all NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations and must display professional integrity.
Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. Two years experience in the operations of a football program, or equivalent combination of related education/experiences.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience: Managing event logistics; developing, recommending, and evaluating written materials such as policies and procedures; devising and implementing solutions to problems; gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts. Knowledge of recruiting process; providing liaison with customer/provider groups. Ability to multitask effectively in a high volume, high stress office. Additional Desirable Qualities: Philosophy and work ethic which provides a good fit with Head Coach and current staff. Demonstrated ability to organize and document key aspects of the recruiting process. Experience in coordinating the travel of large groups. Experience as a staff member of football summer camps. Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
