BC Pulse Program Coordinator

Position Summary

The BC Pulse aims to promote collective impact, systems change, effective implementation, and authentic engagement within and across key nonprofit, public sector, funders, neighborhood based organizations, and families in Battle Creek, Michigan. Ultimately, BC Pulse strives to improve conditions for children and families in Battle Creek by creating a more effective and responsive service delivery system and healthy community. Funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, BC Pulse is supported by a team from Michigan State University who provides strategic, implementation, and evaluation support. 

BC Pulse Program Coordinator will provide support for all initiatives associated with the BC Pulse's mission. The Program Coordinator will assist in coordinating the design and implementation of activities that engage multiple stakeholders who represent diverse interests, roles, and perspectives within the educational, health, employment, funding, and neighborhoods sectors within Battle Creek. Stakeholders will be engaged in multiple action-learning teams that aim to improve conditions for vulnerable children and families by promoting data-driven problem solving around system change goals, shared outcomes and accountability, mutually reinforcing actions,and continuous learning and improvement.

The candidate will have some prior experience in the philanthropic/nonprofit field, connections with organizations of importance to the BC Pulse, and the ability to foster productive relationships at all levels within the Battle Creek community. This position reports to BC Pulse Co-Executive Directors.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in word processing, spreadsheet, database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation and webpage software; typing and filing; maintain accounting ledgers; may require knowledge of technical or medical terminology and/or technical knowledge or training related to the field of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

BC Pulse Program Coordinator will have some experience working in or with community-based organizations; familiarity with Battle Creek neighborhoods and local organizations is preferred; detail-oriented and organized; ability to work independently; strong oral and written communication skills; high level of cultural competence; ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people; experience in the philanthropic/nonprofit field (preferred).
