Position Summary

The MSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is seeking an individual to serve as the Chief Information Officer (CIO). Plans, develops and oversees the development, testing, maintenance and integration of computer and paper information systems; researches, recommends and oversees the purchase, enhancement and/or development of software, hardware, and other equipment; assists in unit policy, procedure, and short- and long-term planning activities and serves as a liaison to Central University and/or external information systems support personnel, vendors, etc.; represents the unit on planning, information systems, professional association and other committees; management of personnel including Interviews, recommends for hire, and reviews the performance of assigned information systems and related support staff.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Science, or a related field, or a field related to the specific area of employment; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in programming, computer systems development, information management, or a related information systems management area, and/or the specific area of employment; experience working with Cerner or other Laboratory Management Systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Programming skills; general networking knowledge; experience with interface engines, such as Rhapsody; excellent communication and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with a diverse group of individuals; advanced experience with Cerner and Oracle.

Work Hours

VARIABLE ( Work hours are Monday through Friday between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM and may vary to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
