Overview

  Position Information  

This is a part-time (.75 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before June 30, 2018. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. Incumbent works 10 months per year and is paid over 12 months. Anticipated month(s) off will be December 8, 2017 to January 8, 2018 and June 2018.

Under the direction of the Head Women’s Rowing Coach, the Assistant Women’s Rowing Coach will support and enhance the mission of the San Diego State University Athletic Department.  The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the direction of the Women’s Rowing program, performing a variety of coaching functions related to the sport of women’s rowing in the Athletic Department.  These coaching functions include, but are not limited to the following: recruiting, administration, coaching, counseling, teaching, staging, fundraising, and public services.

  Compensation and Benefits  

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $2,888.25 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,888.25 - $3,861.75 per month (salary information is pro-rated at .75 time base). Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

  Qualifications  

Minimum Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree.   Three years of collegiate and/or competitive post-collegiate rowing experience.  Two years of coaching and / or coxing experience at the high school, club, collegiate and/or national team level.   

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

Proven success in coaching and / or coxing at the high school, club, collegiate, and /or national level.           

Experience as part of an NCAA Division I women’s rowing team as a student-athlete and / or coach.

Must have and maintain a good driving record.  Must obtain a California driver’s license within 10 days of hire.

Must be able to obtain the following certifications within 60 days of hire:

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid

  • Mission Bay Aquatic Center California Boating Safety Course
