Essential Duties:

Directs the Department of Housing Program, which includes residence halls and a community of student apartments.

Oversees the housing assignment process and all academic-term residence hall openings and closing for students.

Manages, supervises and evaluates the Residence Hall Directors, apartment community staff, Judicial Officer and office staff.

Develops and administers a budget for the housing program and operation.

Evaluates the housing facilities and coordinates maintenance and renovation needs with the physical plant.

Directs staff and residence halls for summer camps.

Oversees the publication of the residence hall and apartment Housing Contracts and the Residence Life Handbook.

Administers the student conduct policies and sanctions as depicted in the Student Handbook.
Investigates and adjudicates student conduct violations and when applicable aid students in conflict resolution

Provides advice and support to faculty who are experiencing conduct issues in their classrooms.

Collaborates with housing personnel in addressing resident students’ behavior.

Serves as the liaison with the Vice President of Student Service’s Office, Office of Student Life, College Police Department, and others on student conduct related issues.

Counsels students concerning housing and discipline issues and dropped academic courses.

Serves as the Title 9 Coordinator for sexual harassment charges addressed by the students.

Oversees and monitors the budget process for all assigned areas.

Performs other related tasks as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree with three years of successful professional level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities described, working in a College’s Residence Life Program or
an equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.

Two years Supervisory experience.

Have strong organizational and financial management skills.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Familiar with and enforce the rules and regulations of Blinn College Housing and Residence Life. Thorough knowledge of current federal and state rules and regulations that govern residence halls.

Ability to interpret regulations, develop and implement policies and procedures, which insure compliance.

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form, with students, parents, other administrators and government officials.

Organizational and office management skills.

The ability to secure and protect College property by prudent and reasonable business practices.

Ability to safeguard sensitive or confidential information from intentional or unintentional disclosures

Possess a strong understanding and commitment to the development of students.

Become acquainted with students living in the hall and provide personal and administrative support necessary in developing an inclusive community environment

Work with students to develop and maintain an atmosphere conducive to study and community living, and encourage students to take responsibility for developing a community atmosphere

Handle emergency or crisis situations appropriately as they arise

Apply conflict resolution skills and counseling techniques when responding to student crisis situations

Effective oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.

Ability to establish and maintain effective student and staff relationships

Understanding of and commitment to a multicultural/diverse campus community

Awareness of and commitment to the mission of the Housing and Residence Life and Blinn College.
