Stanford Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Medical Student Education Coordinator, who will be responsible for administration of the Pediatrics Clerkships. The Coordinator works closely with the directors of the Core Clerkship to ensure that all aspects of the clerkship (orientation, scheduling, curriculum planning, feedback and evaluation, and faculty development) meet high standards for quality and organization.

The Medical Student Education Coordinator is expected to work with limited supervision - independently establishing work priorities, searching out, and correcting any errors. The Coordinator must demonstrate facile communication and organizational skills and solve problems in an innovative manner. This position offers opportunities for creativity and innovation: the Coordinator plays an active role in the ongoing development of tools, approaches, and systems designed to improve students' educational experiences during clerkships. The position also involves a great deal of interpersonal communication with students, faculty, clerkship directors, and medical school administrators.

Duties include:
  • Review and administer student records, analyze data, and make recommendations that require interpretation and influence decisions on routine issues.
  • Collaborate with other staff, faculty and other offices to resolve complex issues.
  • Contribute to developing and analyzing review process of offerings, policies and programs.
  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources, prepare reports. Contribute to identifying trends, needs analysis, participate in the implementation and testing of technology.
  • Contribute to development of marketing materials and strategies, assist in planning and developing programming activities, outreach functions.
  • Provide advice to students on a range of issues, including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program policies, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc., in order to assist them in making appropriate choices and decisions.
  • Apprise students of research, fellowship and scholarship opportunities and participate in related student recruitment and selection.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource to other departments; represent unit/department.
  • May assist with the administration of financial processes.
  • Participate as a member of a project team.

    High school diploma and four years of administrative experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Advanced computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.
  • Demonstrated success in following through and completing projects.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Frequently sitting.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.
