  • Progressive work experience in graphic design.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your conceptualization and design skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • In-depth understanding of visual design including: layout, hierarchy, typography, color theory, and patterns.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to analyze and address complex design problems, provide sound design solutions working both independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills with an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and use independent judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize simultaneous assignments and manage projects.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years' of progressive work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field.
  • Experience producing conceptual graphic design at a creative design firm, advertising agency, or in-house creative design group.
  • Experience with brand development and messaging.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The personality to build strong client relationships that focus on defining client needs and producing effective design solutions.
  • Experience working in higher education.

    Job Description:

    OVERVIEW: We're looking for a talented, hard-working, creative graphic designer to join our communications and marketing team in Texas State University's Information Technology Division.

    ABOUT YOU: You know how to create great marketing design for print, websites, emails, and social media, and have the portfolio to prove it. You are an expert at Adobe Creative Suite and know how to innovatively mix multi-media into design for the most effective results. You have the drive and desire to lead branding efforts for an entire division of a large, emerging research university.

    ABOUT US: The IT Division is one of five divisions at Texas State, and includes Technology Resources, Instructional Technologies Support, Information Security Office, Alkek Library, University Archives, and The Wittliff Collections, a special collection of important artifacts, photography, art, and writing focused on southwest culture.

    As lead graphic designer for these important departments at the university, you will bring style and substance to outreach efforts. You will always be challenged, never bored.

    Job Duties:

    Researching and analyzing client needs, developing strong concepts, communicating and presenting appropriate solutions, and executing accurate final designs.

    Additional Information to Applicants:

    Pay offer will be commensurate with experience with 4,447 monthly being maximum pay with benefits.

    This position is a benefits eligible, project-based position. It is a one year term appointment with the possibility of renewal.
