Epic Application Specialist
Position Summary:Our company is seeking Epic Application Specialists to assist in the development, support and functionality roll out of the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) at a well know hospital in downtown Toronto. Epic Application Specialists will learn the Epic system's capabilities and apply their clinical, computer science and/or technical skills to assist in optimizing the workflow process through building applications tailored to meet the health system's needs.
Candidates that are selected for the team will receive sponsored Epic training through our company. All associated training and travel costs will be paid upfront by our company. No reimbursement will be required.
Participation in all phases of the system development life cycle including development of use cases and evaluation of software solutions
Perform in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with Epic software
Investigate end users' preferences and analyze business operations while making build decisions
Prioritize and implement requested changes to the system
Designs, codes/configures, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains programs/applications
Coordinate all testing phases of associated applications during implementations and upgrades
Collect information regarding potential system enhancement needs
Ensure that data coming across an interface into an Epic application meets the business needs
Develop and document project team procedures for implementing system changes and other tasks
Ensure the system meets organization's business needs by collaborating with Epic representatives, the business community, and end users.
Work with Epic staff to better understand your organization's operational needs as they set the direction for your organization's workflows and system configuration based on Epic's Foundation System
Participate in training and troubleshooting problems for end users
Bachelor's degree in a Clinical discipline, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Computer Systems, or other related field
1+ years' experience working in an inpatient hospital clinical and/or revenue cycle, patient access, clinical project management
Basic understanding of clinical workflows and terminology preferred
Demonstrated experience with EHR software preferred
Working knowledge of IT solutions and interfacing is an asset
Ability to analyze the underlying needs of the organization and user community, which directly influences how the system will be built
Ability to communicate effectively with project leadership, stakeholders, and subject matter experts
Ability and enthusiasm to learn the software and increase one's knowledge while promoting it within the organization
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc)
Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills, resilience, and creativity are essential
The ability to work equally well as a member of a team or alone to carry out project activities
Innovative, results and detail oriented
