The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia (UVA) is seeking a post-doctoral research associate to perform research on projects related to image processing and development of algorithms to quantify metabolism and perfusion from dynamic Positron Emission Tomography (PET) images of heart and brain in rodents and humans.
Candidates must have a PhD in Images and Systems, Biomedical Engineering, or related background at the time of hire.
The applicant must have expertise in biomedical image analysis, preferably in cardiac imaging processing algorithms including segmentation, interpolation and registration. The candidate must be proficient in programming languages such as Matlab and C++ especially with ITK and VTK libraries. The candidate must also have experience in the application of machine learning techniques to medical imaging data.
In addition, the selected candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills to present at professional meetings and to supervise undergraduate and graduate students in the laboratory along with the PI. The position is for one year with the possibility of renewal, based on satisfactory performance.
