Systems Administrator (Senior Level) - Arlington,VA (DEPARTMENT OF STATE)

About the Job: Compensation 95K a year

NETS is seeking the following candidate with the following skills/qualifications:
  • Overview
  • Technical Manager of a data center
  • Technical Team Lead of the System Administration team managing OpenNet, ClassNet, and the MS Azure Hybrid Cloud environments
  • 60% Technical Management and 40% Hands-on Technical
  • Critical interface between the technical team and program manager
  • Task manager of all activities in the engagement that relate to OpenNet, ClassNet and the Azure Hybrid Cloud
  • IT Service Management (ITSM) - ITIL best practices as they pertain to Event, Incident and problem management
  • Run the business - Infrastructure as a Service - managing within a subscription budget (Microsoft Azure - Government)

  • Technical Management
  • Responsible for daily Situational Awareness of our data center (OpenNet, ClassNet and the Azure Hybrid Cloud)
    • Alert management of all network and system status
    • Outages
    • Significant Incidents and trending issues
    • All service requests
    • Tactical project status via the daily scrum
  • Task Manager
    • Utilize a management tool to manage all team task (system center, TFS, SharePoint, etc)
    • All tasks, action items, incidents, service request compiled daily and prioritized for team work packages
    • Managing of individual team work packages and priorities
  • Functional work areas
    • Manage team member assignment as primary and back-up to core areas
    • Plan for Cross training
    • Help foster a collaborative work environment to work as a team (everyone shares)
    • Establish a knowledge base and information sharing portal of technical information
  • Process and Recommended practices
    • Identify a repository that has tagging for easy retrieval of information
    • Organize SOPs and specific checklist
    • Establish the usage of daily checklist for the core functions
    • Each person should have a daily checklist that pertains to their core functional area

  • Hands-on Technical
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server 2008R2, 2012
  • Knowledge and experience with virtual machines (VMware and Hyper-V)
  • Knowledge of cloud computing - specifically Microsoft Azure concepts
  • Familiar with Microsoft infrastructure technologies (AD, group policies, Server, domain controllers, WSUS, etc)
  • Experience with system administration of SQL, SharePoint
  • MS PowerShell scripts
  • Enterprise back-up knowledge (MS DPM)
  • Certificate services
  • System authentication technologies
  • Patch management experience
  • Windows 7 Enterprise experience
