Executive Director of Alumni & Constituent Relations

San Francisco State University seeks an Executive Director of Alumni & Constituent Relations to expand upon the alumni office’s many accomplishments and to take the alumni organization to its next level of engagement with its alumni.
Located in one of the most dynamic cities and regions in the world, San Francisco State University is a comprehensive university with 30,000 students and over 250,000 alumni.
Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement the incumbent is a senior member of the Advancement leadership team. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Alumni Relations department. Specifically, she/he oversees the planning, organization, coordination and implementation of the alumni relations, parent relations, emeriti and retired faculty. The incumbent will provide leadership and direction to the colleges’ alumni relations and special gifts fundraising activities and ensures that the Alumni Relations program continues to increase the number of alumni engaged with the University. The Executive Director focuses the alumni relations program on identifying alumni who have the capacity to make major gifts to the University. The Executive Director provides strategic planning, and support for other units within University Advancement, including University Communications, University Development, Government and Community Relations, the SF State Foundation and Advancement Services. The University also engages alumni internationally with emphasis in Asia and Europe.

Professional and proven experience in leading an alumni association and/or experience in advancement is required. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (a graduate degree is desirable) and excellent communication and interpersonal skills working a highly paced environment.
