Job Description Summary:
The University of La Verne invites applications for a 10-month non-tenure-track Assistant Professor and Lead Regional Faculty position in Educational Counseling for the College of Education and Organizational Leadership, in conjunction with Regional and Online Campuses (ROC).
Founded on the university's core values of leadership, caring, excellence, and diversity, the Educational Counseling Program emphasizes school counselor training, with concentrations in a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (California), School and Family Based Counseling (LPCC license-eligibility), Spanish Bilingual Bicultural Certification (certificate or concentration), and College Counseling. The Educational Counseling Program is seeking a candidate with a strong emphasis in diversity, social justice, and advocacy and knowledge in the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model, the ASCA and American Counseling Association (ACA) Ethics Codes, and knowledge of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences LPCC licensure process.

Specific Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for oversight of the regional campuses in the Santa Clarita/Ventura area. Responsibilities include:
• Faculty coordination responsibilities
o Teach four courses over three academic terms each year
o Selecting adjunct faculty and scheduling for regional campuses in conjunction with other Lead Regional Faculty
o Evaluation and review of evaluations and performance of Adjunct Faculty
o Attendance at university, college, department, and program meetings; service on university or college committees as appointed
• Cohort responsibilities
o Maintain 3-4 cohorts
o Communicate with Regional Administrator and Associate Dean of ROC regarding cohorts and Organizational Meetings (attendance required)
• Student Candidate responsibilities
o Interview applicants and administer writing assessments
o Serve as faculty advisor and point-of-contact for students regarding program policies and procedures
o Service cohorts through classroom visitations, maintaining office hours, and scheduling appointments as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Educational Counseling or related field (e.g., Counseling Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, School Counseling, Educational Leadership)
• California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential - School Counseling, or acquisition of credential upon hire
• Experience in teaching and/or working with adult learners
• Experience in school counseling

Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctorate in Educational Counseling or related field (e.g., Counseling Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, School Counseling, Educational Leadership)
• Current PPS Credential - School Counseling in California
• California license-eligibility or a current license as a master’s or doctoral level clinician from the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or California Board of Psychology
• Current research agenda in school counseling and ability to conduct scholarly activities in the field
• Bilingual in Spanish, or other language common in California’s student demographics
• Extensive knowledge in the use of technology in online teaching and student data bases in schools

Location: Ventura County Campus
