Publications Assistant/Senior Graphic Illustrator

TITLE OF POSITION/RANK:  Publications Assistant/Senior Graphic Illustrator 

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: College-Community Relations

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Publications Assistant/Senior Graphic Illustrator will provide support services to the publications, web, social media and clerical areas of the office, primarily publications. This team player will be assigned tasks by the Publications Manager, in support of those areas. Major responsibilities are the direct support/assistance to the Publications Manager, which may include all of or some of the following - handling electronic signage; designing flyers; directly handling or assisting with collateral material, including print publications; assisting in the filing of photographic images; taking photos or shooting video on occasion, supervising photo shoots; assisting in updating catalog information (with the Publications Manager); and preparing materials for posting on the website. The incumbent will also serve as backup to the publications and web staff during their vacation periods. This person may also handle some publications with minimal supervision. Web duties will include handling secondary projects and various assignments approved by the Publications Manager. In addition, the incumbent will occasionally assist with social media, shoot photography and video, edit video, and handle clerical tasks such as copying, filing, phones, coordination of RFPs, requisitions, invoices, contracts, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:  A minimum of a high school or equivalency diploma and four years of technical experience in illustration, graphic design or desktop publishing, which must have included experience in the design and production of a variety of visual materials is required. We are seeking a team member who can support the other individuals in the office. The successful candidate must possess strong design skills and be comfortable in an “art/copy trafficker/production” role. He/she must also possess an awareness of social media, solid writing skills, web skills (WordPress a plus), and PhotoShop experience. Solid knowledge of Windows-based office software and procedures, good knowledge of computers, and knowledge of Windows required. Experience in typography, layout, design principles, photo manipulation also required. Advanced web experience preferred. 

POSITION EFFECTIVE: Spring/Summer 2017

SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $46,715, plus excellent benefits.
