Associate VPAA for Professional Studies/Online Learning – Wichita, Kansas

AVPAA for Administration: This is a newly created position in a recently reconfigured academic leadership team, all designed to build on the academic strength and creative style of SC’s liberal arts centered program. The main campus in Winfield will enroll over 500 students in 2017-2018 and continues to appeal to mostly traditional-aged students. The academic program is poised to thrive under the work of a talented and eager academic facilitator and collaborator. Coordination of relationships across disciplines will be important, as will the facilitation of greater collaboration between academic affairs and student affairs, business affairs, admissions, and athletics, among others.

An advanced degree is preferred, as are both classroom teaching experience and an understanding of academic affairs administration on the small residential college campus. Experience as a successful dean, department or division chair, or program director will all be considered attractive preparation for this assignment.

AVPAA for PS/Online Learning: This new Assoc VPAA will engage an historically successful program that has offered a distinctive array of professional programs, mainly through online pedagogy. The successful candidate will be asked to lead team efforts to evaluate courses, enhance programs, and improve instructional design throughout all PS offerings. The PS program is expected to enroll roughly 700 learners in 2017-2018. Established in 1994, Southwestern was one of the first private colleges in the nation to embrace adult students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in a non-traditional format.

An advanced degree is preferred, as are online and classroom teaching experience. The successful candidate should demonstrate a deep working knowledge of today’s online learning environment and the vision to forecast future trends that will be beneficial to Southwestern. In addition, a nimble approach to analyzing current course and program offerings will be important, in order that review, revision, and renewal will occur gracefully and quickly.
