The National Capital Poison Center seeks a Development Associate. The incumbent will raise money to fund a ground breaking, game-changing on-line poison control software application (webPOISONCONTROL) and for the National Capital Poison Center operations. The creation of the app marks a turning point in Poison Control. The app is the first online automated triage tool for poison emergencies - it provides free, expert triage recommendations online for those who prefer to use the internet instead the telephone, to get poison help.

Major activities include developing and implementing a comprehensive fund-raising plan to identify new and creative funding opportunities, preparing fund-raising proposals and solicitations, and conducting donor research to identify new potential funding sources. By achieving fund-raising goals, the incumbent will be assisting the organization in its mission to save lives and prevent injury and illness from poisoning. Responsibilities Include:

Develops and implements a comprehensive and innovative plan to fund the online triage software application and the National Capital Poison Center. The fund-raising plan should include identifying new and creative funding opportunities. Funding targets will include but will not be limited to individuals, corporations, foundations, and government sources.

Prepares fund-raising proposals and soliciations including narratives and budgets for grant proposals. Implements all aspects of the fund-raising plan.

Conducts prospect research and identifies potential donors and funding opportunities, including individual, foundation, corporate and governmental grants.

Optimizes online giving using social media and online fund-raising tools.
Works with and organizes partners and volunteers to achieve the Center's fund-raising goals.

This position performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Two (2) years of fund raising, development or philanthropic experience with demonstrated success, preferred.
