The Department of English at the University of Virginia seeks a new colleague whose work principally concerns any (not all) of the fields of nondramatic literature produced between about 1100 and the late seventeenth century (i.e.: medieval, premodern, Renaissance, Reformation, early modern, and so forth). We invite applications from candidates who will have earned a doctoral degree by July 2017.

The appointed scholar will contribute to our mission to strengthen the humanities by teaching two courses each term, writing and publishing widely for scholars and the global public, and serving to sustain the department and the university. The appointment is anticipated to begin July 25, 2017.
