Unit Job Summary: The Associate Director, Career Management is part of a global Career Services team providing career management support to Chicago Booth MBA students and alumni. The Associate Director primarily functions as a coach and educator for Chicago Booth's 1,150 full-time MBA students. As a coach, the AD provides one-on-one and small group support for all phases of the career and job search life-cycle. As an educator, the AD creates and delivers innovative career management programming including large classroom, experiential learning and special events, and via e-learning media such as webinars, video casts, and designed instructional tools. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Coach domestic and international students on appropriate career management and job search skills in one-on-one, small, and large group settings. - Conceptualize, innovate, develop, and deliver career management programming to groups of 5-500 students. - Lead or co-lead the implementation of career education (knowledge and skill-building) including workshops, panel discussions, large scale conferences, and e-learning/media. - Consult and partner with several functional, industry, and regional student groups to guide in planning and delivering career-management related programming. - Manage or lead various special projects/programs that provide career related support, such as the Career Advisor Program (peer group coaching) or strategic initiatives to address the needs of special constituencies. - Collaborate with the Employer Relations team and meet with recruiters on an occasional basis to discuss recruiting strategies and hiring needs. - Solicit and analyze student feedback and evaluations and help strategize with the Career Management team, student organizations, and/or other Booth staff to determine program offerings and innovations. - Analyze markets and trends as they relate to the MBA job search and incorporate tips/ advice into coaching students, and in developing career programming. - Participate in career management team leadership - provide professional mentoring and program guidance to team.

Unit Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in business, counseling, or related field preferred.

Unit Experience: A minimum five years of experience in career counseling or five years of experience in industry specialty required. Experience with, knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in business careers required.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Strong writing, verbal, and presentation skills required. Strong organizational and project management skills required. Proficiency in using on-line resources, spreadsheets and presentation software required. Deep commitment to customer service and the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment required. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative, and the ability to work both independently and within a team required. Knowledge of career development theory and strong coaching or counseling skills preferred. An understanding of and appreciation for the needs and concerns of a diverse MBA student body preferred.
