Degree and Area of Specialization:

BS or BA in education or related field required. Wisconsin DPI-issued license or permit required.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Experience managing, implementing, problem solving, designing, and/or teaching in learning management systems for K-12 classrooms. Experience developing and implementing academic curriculum and/or programs for pre-college advanced learners.

The preferred candidate will have at least 2 years teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: Middle Childhood-Early Adolescence (MC-EA), Language Arts (MC-EA,EA-A), Broadfield Lang Arts (EA-A), Technology Education (EC-A), Gifted and Talented, Reading Teacher, or Urban Education. Ideal candidates have demonstrated aptitude in curriculum design, program management systems, and/or online learning tools. The candidate must possess excellent organizational and communication skills. Familiarity with Wisconsin public and private schools and educational organizations preferred.



Position Summary:

The Pre-college Program Specialist provides technical support, designs and implements online and blended curriculum for the Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth (WCATY), UW-Madison. This position works closely with WCATY Program Directors for the purposes of short-term and long-term program planning and evaluation; advising students and their families on application and enrollment processes; and communicating the WCATY mission and goals with students, parents, schools, and community organizations. The Pre-college Program Specialist works with WCATY Program Directors to communicate with public and private schools, Wisconsin, national, and international families, as well as local businesses to build and sustain the WCATY community.



Additional Information:

Postition renewal beyond one year is possible depending on program funding, performance, and program need.
