Job Title:         General Maintenance

 

Reports to:      Assistant Director of Facilities

 

Status:                         Full-time, Hourly Staff (40 hrs/wk) 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., Sat. – Wed.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Maintains and services various areas of the College, including plumbing, painting, carpentry, plastering, cementing, repairs to flooring and tile.
  2. Requires the ability to drive a vehicle to visit job sites.
  3. Performs maintenance and repairs to buildings.
  4. Will be required to answer emergency calls.
  5. Requires indoor and outdoor work.
  6. Weekends and overtime work are required to support college events, activities and emergencies.
  7. Requires assisting with snow removal in inclement weather.
  8. Effectively interact with staff, students and faculty.
  9. May require walking long distances, standing for extended periods, twisting, bending, reaching and kneeling.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Minimum 3-5 years experience in maintenance related functions.
  2. Take direction from the supervisor.
  3. Ability to read and write in English, do basic math and follow instructions.
  4. Ability to read blue prints preferred.
  5. Ability to make working sketches.
  6. Work in a collaborative manner as part of the site team.
  7. Relate professionally with vendors, residents and co-workers.
  8. Communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  9. Use maintenance, trade and testing equipment and tools.
  10. Comply with college policies and procedures.
  11. Flexible to change work plans.
  12. Maintain a professional personal appearance.
  13. Must have valid NYS driver’s license.
  14. Oversee work progress of vendors or outside contractors.
  15. Ability to lift up 50 pounds without assistance.
