Description:

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is a part-time position scheduled on an as needed basis up to 19 hours per week. The primary duties of the position will be providing technical and administrative support to the Office of Payroll and Benefits, performing other related duties as assigned. Under general supervision, assists in operational function/support of the administration of the Office's payroll/benefits processes to include: all facets of timekeeping and payroll processing in an automated system; complete, verify, and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits to include health/life/disability insurance, workers compensation, and retirement; review/audit of system data; and time and attendance procedural support. Has necessary knowledge of payroll and benefits policies/procedures in order to answer employee/manager questions, ensure benefit records are accurately maintained and personal employee data is confidential. Administrative functions performed may include: data entry, copying, scanning, developing routine correspondence and filing with strong attention to detail.

Salary

Hourly rate commensurate with education and experience with excellent benefits.





Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum

  • Two years prior operational experience in payroll /benefits.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with internal/external contacts.
  • Be a collaborative and collegial member of the Payroll and Benefits team.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a strict degree of confidentiality.
  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook products.
  • Ability to adhere to and meet strict deadlines.

Preferred

  • Associate's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred.
  • Experience with ADP and/or PeopleSoft Human Capital Management system.
  • Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years prior operational payroll/benefits experience.
