Resident Director - Academic Initiatives (MVCC Dormitory Corporation)
Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience in Residence Life or a closely related Student Affairs area, as a student or professional required.
Master’s degree and one (1) year of experience as an instructor, advisor, or student tutor preferred.
The Resident Director – Academic Initiatives (MVCC Dormitory Corporation) is a member of the student-centered professional team responsible for providing overall daily management, leadership and direction for all on-campus housing services. The Resident Director – Academic Initiatives specializes in providing academic support that fosters academic engagement and student retention. This is a live-on position.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provides leadership for Residence Hall Academic Initiatives;
Directly supervises, develops, trains and evaluates student staff in their academic programming requirements;
Serves as a supplemental Conduct Officer as needed; Investigates and sanctions, if appropriate, violations of Residence Hall policy;
Alternates emergency coverage (weekday/weekend; 24 hour) for Residence Halls as "Director on Duty;"
Provides general support/counsel/mediation assistance to individual residents and groups within the complex. Refers to professional counseling as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
