Essential functions of this position:
The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) Business Officer is a manager of the Business Core Service Team which provides comprehensive resource management and business services support to the college and its functional units. Specifically, this role assumes primary responsibility for the management and leadership of the business services of the college. Through supervision and leadership of members of the business team, the Business Officer oversees the administration of business processes and the establishment of new processes, procedures and policies necessary to administer the business services of the CHHS. Additionally, this role manages the budget and financial record keeping. This employee must be knowledge of all finance related transactional activity performed by the Business Core Service Team, and ensure that all transactional processes are integrated into the budget monitoring, tracking, reporting and reconciliation processes. Finally, the Business Officer provides a variety of support to faculty, staff and administrators related to the execution of activities that support the financial portfolio of CHHS.

N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area and two years of administrative management or business management experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Ability to independently research, compile and present information and numerical data
Ability to identify, analyze, and evaluate situations or problems to determine and implement appropriate course of action
Ability to embrace, learn, and adapt to new software and technologies
Proficiency in written and oral communication skills
Ability to organize and adjust workload to handle multiple responsibilities
Ability to analyze, interpret, recommend, write and implement policy and procedural guidelines
Proficiency in the use of personal computer with multiple types of software programs, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and database systems; substantial knowledge and comfort in the use of Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software
Ability to manage and supervise employees
Ability to develop relationships with various stakeholders on multiple levels of an organization
Ability to develop and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences
Ability to present data and information that is consumable to the audience
General knowledge of accounting, purchasing and personnel procedures

Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
Experience working the banner modules of finance, HR and student
Experience supporting externally funded projects (i.e. grants/contracts)
Experience working in a higher education environment
Fundamental knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure of the university and various levels comprising Academic Affairs and the responsibilities associated with each level

Recruitment Range: $56,000 - $61,720
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 73
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
